Nigerian singer, Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has raised concerns over an alleged directive prohibiting artistes from organising music shows in Nigeria during the Islamic Ramadan period.

The Baby Riddim crooner revealed that her plans to host a birthday concert in Nigeria on March 13 have been repeatedly frustrated because the date falls within Ramadan, a period during which music concerts are reportedly being restricted.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) handle, Fave expressed confusion over the development.

“So I was tryna do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan? I’m a little confused,” she wrote.

In a follow-up post, the singer disclosed that promoters had turned down her proposed event several times, citing the same reason — that concerts are allegedly not permitted during Ramadan.

She questioned why the religious period should affect her work and business, noting that she is a Christian and only became familiar with Ramadan practices later in her life.

“I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste and back to back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing,” she wrote.

“I grew up in the south and never heard of Ramadan practices till I was in my late teens. I respect all religions. But I’m Christian and I really want to do this on my birthday, so if you’re reading this and are open to organize, I’d be so happy.”

The development has sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians debating the intersection of religious observances, business activities and entertainment events in the country.
