Afropop sensation Yemi Alade has finally broken her silence on why fans shouldn’t expect a collaboration between her and fellow Nigerian star Tiwa Savage anytime soon.
In a recent interview, Yemi revealed that while she respects Tiwa’s artistry and contribution to the music industry, she’s chosen to avoid working together to “keep the peace.”
“It’s not about competition or bad blood,” Yemi said candidly. “I just don’t want problems. The industry already pits women against each other enough, and sometimes, collaborations can make that worse instead of better.”

The singer’s statement comes after years of speculation from fans who have long hoped for a powerhouse female duet between the two Afrobeat queens. Rumors of rivalry have circulated since their simultaneous rise to fame, fueled by comparisons and social media chatter.
Despite the ongoing buzz, Yemi made it clear she harbors no resentment, adding that she’s focused on positive energy and creative freedom.
“I believe in timing,” she added. “If it’s meant to happen, it will but for now, peace of mind comes first.”
The revelation has sparked conversations online, with fans divided between respecting Yemi’s stance and still yearning for the long dreamed collaboration that could redefine Afrobeats’ female power dynamic.
