In a ceremony held on Monday at the State House in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima decorated Adewale Adeniyi as the new Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, expressed his satisfaction with the appointment, highlighting its positive impact on the morale of Customs officers.

During the event, observed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Shettima congratulated CG Adeniyi for reintroducing professionalism into the Nigeria Customs Service. He stated that this appointment opens doors for all Customs officers to aspire to the highest positions within their profession. Shettima conveyed the President’s well wishes and congratulated Adeniyi once again.

In a media interaction after the decoration ceremony, CG Adeniyi expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing a serving officer as the head of the agency. Adeniyi assured the President and Nigerians of a more effective and innovation-driven Customs Service.

Reflecting on the recent years, Adeniyi acknowledged the transitional period the Nigeria Customs Service has undergone. He acknowledged progress in areas such as E-Customs and capacity building but emphasized the need to fully utilize the service’s potential through innovative approaches. Adeniyi expressed his commitment to professionalism and working closely with key stakeholders, acknowledging the challenging task ahead.

Adeniyi outlined his vision for the future, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and leveraging technology and innovation to revolutionize Customs operations. He pledged to introduce innovations that would engage all partners and stakeholders, aiming to break new ground in the Customs Service’s operations.

With the new Comptroller General at the helm, the Nigeria Customs Service is poised to undergo a period of transformation, with a renewed focus on professionalism, innovation, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
