Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board cautions candidates against sharing personal details
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to candidates preparing for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters seeking their personal information.
Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, delivered this cautionary message during a press briefing conducted at the JAMB Professional Centre in Bwari on Friday.
Addressing the media, Professor Oloyede emphasized the critical importance of the ongoing examination, highlighting the extensive efforts undertaken by the Board over the past seven years to enhance the integrity and efficiency of the UTME process. He expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of various measures aimed at combating fraudulent activities associated with the examination.
“In light of the advancements we have made in our operational procedures, we urge candidates to exercise caution and refrain from divulging their personal details to individuals or entities of questionable integrity,” stated Professor Oloyede.
Acknowledging the collaborative efforts of security agencies in apprehending perpetrators of fraudulent activities, Professor Oloyede expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services, Director-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Police Force National CyberCrime Centre.
Providing assurance regarding the smooth conduct of the ongoing examination, Professor Oloyede commended the public, particularly parents, for their cooperation, noting a significant improvement in the overall conduct of the examination compared to previous years.
