In celebration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day, Apple Music has unveiled its list of the top 5 fastest-rising Nigerian artists on its platform.

With the global success of Afrobeats, an increasing number of artists with unique styles are gaining attention from listeners worldwide.

Here are the featured artists:

  1. Seyi Vibez: Seyi Vibez has captivated global audiences with his contemporary take on Apala, a traditional Yoruba-rooted genre, infused with elements of Fuji, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, and Afro-soul music. Since the release of “God Sent” in 2021, his first song to hit Apple Music’s Daily Top 100, Seyi Vibez has seen over 50 songs reach the chart in 20 countries. His streams have grown more than five-fold (+435%) in the past year, with the release of his album “Billion Dollar Baby” and a feature on Burna Boy’s “I Told Them.”
  2. Odumodublvck: Blending Drill, Grime, and Afrobeats, Odumodublvck is one of Nigeria’s hottest emerging rappers. His single “Picanto” reached the Daily Top 100 in Nigeria, but it was “Declan Rice” that propelled him to greater heights, topping the chart in Nigeria and 11 other countries. Odumodublvck’s streams have skyrocketed by over 3,500% on Apple Music worldwide in the past year.
  3. Shallipopi: Shallipopi gained widespread recognition with his viral Afrobeats hit, “Elon Musk.” The song broke into Nigeria’s Daily Top 100 in March and set the stage for his breakthrough. This summer, he achieved his first No. 1 in Nigeria with “Ex Convict” and garnered attention as an Apple Music Up Next artist in Nigeria. A remix of “Elon Musk” featuring Fireboy DML contributed to a 508% increase in streams in Nigeria and 467% worldwide in a single week.
  4. Victor Thompson: In the realm of Christian and Gospel music, Nigeria consistently leads the way. Victor Thompson, a gospel singer-songwriter, experienced a breakthrough with “This Year (Blessings)” in January. The song reached the Daily Top 100 in 58 countries, including 10 where it entered the top 10. Thompson’s music has seen a 244% increase in streams worldwide year-on-year.
  5. Bayanni: Collaborations between Nigerian and American artists are on the rise, with songs climbing the charts. One such example is “Ta Ta Ta,” a collaboration between Nigerian singer Bayanni and American pop star Jason Derulo. Originally featured on Bayanni’s 2022 self-titled EP, the song gained momentum, especially after Derulo’s remix. “Ta Ta Ta” has made it to the Daily Top 100 in 54 countries, including 20 where it reached the top 10.
