Renowned Nigerian singer, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, recently sat down for an exclusive interview with reality star Tacha on Cool FM, Lagos. During the conversation, Simi shared her perspective on heartbreak and love.
Contrary to popular belief, Simi revealed that she has never personally experienced heartbreak in a relationship. Addressing her latest heartbreak-inspired song, “Stranger,” she clarified that it was not drawn from personal experiences but rather served as an anthem for those who have suffered heartbreak.
Simi stated, “I don’t think I have ever been heartbroken. I don’t know, that song [‘Stranger’] came to me very easily. I guess, maybe I’m just a champion for people that have taken breakfasts [heartbroken] severally [laughs]. I’m here for them. I mean, somebody has to be.”
The talented singer went on to explain her inspiration behind the song, sharing her thoughts on a unique angle of love. She explored the idea of being in a relationship where one feels changed and begins accepting or adapting to things they wouldn’t normally consider. Simi expressed that this perspective resonated with her, and she believed it would also resonate with people currently experiencing heartbreak.
