Grammy-nominated afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has shed light on the reasons behind his jesting at comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, in the wake of the fire that engulfed AY’s multi-million-naira mansion in Lagos.

Kuti justified his actions by pointing out that he had teased the comedian due to AY’s prior humorous take on Kuti’s altercation with the police and imprisonment experience, even going so far as to depict Kuti’s daughter as a “dog.”

During an Instagram live session with his fans, Kuti defended his stance, criticizing AY as “unfunny” and describing him as a “dry individual with bad breath.”

Kuti asserted that it is a well-known fact in the entertainment industry that AY has bad breath. He explained, “They claim I was laughing at Ayo Makun [AY] when his house burned down. You may not be aware because those who follow me often will tell you that on the very day the incident occurred, I was live.

“As his house was burning, while they were trying to extinguish the fire, I was live. Unless you are not aware that he [AY] depicted my daughter as a dog in his lousy skit video, using my trials and tribulations as a basis for his jokes. He took my struggles and made fun of them. And that’s not all. He essentially called my daughter a dog in his worthless skit.

“That unfunny individual. That dry person with foul breath. His breath stinks. You can ask anyone in the industry unless they intend to deceive you. He portrayed my own daughter as a dog. The same person whose wife was beaten at home. No woman in his life will ever respect him because I’m certain his children have witnessed him mistreating his wife.”
