Ojolo, Anambra State – The final farewell to the late Senator Annie Okonkwo commenced today in his country home in Ojolo, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State. The funeral proceedings, held at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Ojolo, mark the end of an era for the respected former Senator who represented Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2011.

Senator Okonkwo, who passed away on June 8, 2023, in the United States at the age of 63, was known for his dedicated service to his constituents and his strong ties to the Catholic Church. He held the distinguished title of Knight of Saint John, showcasing his deep involvement and commitment to his faith.

The somber occasion was graced by several prominent figures, underscoring Senator Okonkwo’s impact and legacy. Among the attendees were the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo. Also present was Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, along with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, accompanied by his wife. Senator Ifeanyi Uba, among other notable personalities, also paid their respects.
