In response to the recent wave of rival cult clashes in Ilesa town, the Osun State Police Command has apprehended several suspects. The arrests followed the directive of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, who authorized security agencies to undertake special operations to apprehend those responsible for the violence.

Earlier reports had detailed the tragic deaths of four individuals in separate incidents, with two occurring in a beer parlour in Imo on Sunday and two more at Sabo, Irojo Junction on Tuesday. These incidents were a direct result of a supremacy battle between the Eiye and Aiye confraternities.

Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, confirmed the arrests and stated that law enforcement agencies were actively pursuing additional suspects linked to the crimes. Opalola reassured the public that normalcy had been restored in the town and emphasized their commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice.

“We have made some arrests in connection with the incident, but I don’t have the number of those arrested presently,” she stated.
