Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, emerged as the top scorer in the presidential election held on Saturday in Nasarawa State, with a total of 191,361 votes. His closest rival, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, secured 172,922 votes, while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party obtained 147,093 votes. The results were collated and announced on Monday in Lafia by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s collation officer in Nasarawa State, Professor Ishaya Tanko.
According to Prof. Ishaya Tanko, who serves as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos in Plateau State and acted as the Collation Officer, the NNPP presidential candidate obtained 12,715 votes in the election. Tanko also disclosed that the total number of registered voters in the state was 2,552,716, and the total number of valid votes cast was 540,566. Furthermore, he stated that the number of accredited voters was 562,464, with a total of 556,937 votes cast and 16,371 votes rejected.
