In Osogbo, a rift has emerged between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the performance of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration in Osun State.
The APC, through a statement released by state chairman Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, accused Governor Adeleke of governing impulsively, citing alleged incompetency. Chief Kola Olabisi, the party’s director of media and information, argued that the state’s governance under Adeleke resembled the haphazard style seen during military rule.
Lawal expressed concern over Governor Adeleke’s distribution of Federal Government fuel subsidy palliatives in grains, rice, and cash, regardless of political affiliations. He also criticized the governor for failing to fulfill promises, such as holding state executive meetings on Wednesdays, instead observing what he deemed as superficial sessions lacking substantive engagement.
In response, the PDP denounced the APC’s statement as an exhibition of desperation and disappointment over Governor Adeleke’s remarkable performance. State chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi dismissed the accusations against the Adeleke administration as riddled with falsehoods and suggested the opposition concede defeat even before the 2026 election.
Bisi highlighted Governor Adeleke’s substantial impact across various sectors, acknowledged by both residents and non-residents alike. He pointed to numerous accolades received by the governor from reputable media and non-governmental organizations, underscoring Adeleke’s surpassing of previous records set between 2018 and 2022.
The PDP emphasized Governor Adeleke’s significant approval ratings compared to the dwindling support for the opposition, attributing this to Adeleke’s transformative governance in Osun State. They urged the opposition to acknowledge the governor’s achievements and embrace a more constructive engagement moving forward.
