Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has called on the people of the state to move beyond the events preceding the demise of the former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and work towards achieving a state characterized by peace and prosperity.

In his statewide New Year broadcast yesterday, Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the challenges faced in the past few months, stating that these difficulties have strengthened their determination to unite the people. He emphasized the need to leave the past behind and redirect all human and material resources towards building on the foundation laid by his administration.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the public that his administration would not only provide a dignified state burial for the late governor but also work towards immortalizing his name. Reflecting on the year 2023, marked by the unfortunate loss of former Governor Akeredolu, the current governor praised Akeredolu’s significant contributions to the development of Ondo State and Nigeria at large.

The governor pledged to fulfill promises by completing the developmental projects initiated by the late governor during his tenure. Aiyedatiwa reiterated the importance of unity, urging the people to focus on creating a peaceful and prosperous Ondo State.

Furthermore, Governor Aiyedatiwa appealed to political parties, aspirants, and their supporters to avoid engaging in violent behavior that could jeopardize the peace and tranquility of the state, especially with the approaching 2024 governorship election.
