In a recent address to journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, Jimi Odimayo, an All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial hopeful in Ondo State, emphasized the importance of fielding a candidate capable of serving two consecutive terms in the upcoming governorship election.

Odimayo, who currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Population in the House of Representatives, specifically highlighted the aspirations of the Southern Senatorial District for a governor who can represent them effectively for eight years, starting from February 24, 2025.

Warning against the consequences of selecting a candidate unable to fulfill an eight-year tenure, Odimayo urged the national leadership of the APC to exercise caution in their selection process, emphasizing the need to prioritize the interests of the Ondo South Senatorial District.

He asserted, “We must avoid any missteps in candidate selection to maintain the trust of our constituents. It’s imperative that the APC presents a candidate capable of securing two full terms of governance.”

Furthermore, Odimayo stressed the significance of addressing the state’s challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, unemployment, healthcare disparities, and educational gaps. He expressed his commitment to addressing these issues and fostering progress and prosperity in Ondo State.

Emphasizing his vision for a brighter future for the state, Odimayo affirmed that his gubernatorial aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to serve and effect positive change.

As the APC prepares for the upcoming election, Odimayo’s remarks underscore the importance of strategic candidate selection in ensuring the party’s continued dominance in Ondo State politics.
