Peter Obi reiterates his commitment to addressing insecurity, hunger, and youth unemployment as LP Presidential candidate.

Peter Obi promises border opening and poverty reduction if elected as President

Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has promised to tackle insecurity, hunger, and youth unemployment, open the nation’s borders, and address poverty in the country if he becomes the next President. He made these promises while addressing party members and supporters at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina, and urged the electorate to vote for him in the upcoming general elections. Along with his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi stated that they were ready to serve the country and that LP would not deceive the people like past governments have. The LP Presidential candidate and his campaign team then left the stadium to participate in a town hall with party leaders and members in the state.

Meanwhile, Melchior Gowon, the LP senatorial candidate for Plateau Central Zone in the upcoming February 2023 General Elections, has given the party three days to publicly correct what he called a “mischievous publication” that depicted Chief Garba Pwul as the senatorial candidate at the party’s recent rally in Jos. In a press conference, Gowon stated that he is the official candidate for Plateau Central and has taken legal action to correct the false information that was circulated. He also emphasized that he has not withdrawn his mandate to contest the seat and is not considering doing so in the future. Efforts to get a response from the Plateau LP Chairman, Grace Zamfara, were unsuccessful.
