Abuja, Nigeria – Former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State made an unexpected visit on Tuesday to the private residence of ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, who also serves as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This encounter unfolds against a backdrop of ongoing speculation surrounding Wike’s potential defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC.

While conjectures about political shifts continue to circulate, sources indicate that Wike’s visit to Ganduje was a gesture of congratulations on his recent ascension to the position of the APC’s National Chairman. The significance of this meeting is underscored by Wike’s previous visit to President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, merely a week prior to his engagement with Ganduje.

Notably, Wike was recently among the ministerial nominees who underwent Senate screening and approval, having been recommended by President Tinubu.

The former Rivers State Governor has been entwined in the political narrative, having previously led a coalition of four PDP governors in a campaign against the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, resulting in a victory for the APC.

While Wike has repeatedly refuted claims of imminent defection from the PDP to the APC, his interactions and movements within the political sphere continue to fuel speculation and curiosity. The dynamics of his engagements serve to reshape the political landscape as the nation watches with keen interest.
