The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has issued a cautionary statement to President Bola Tinubu, advising him to be cautious of certain critics targeting his ministers. According to NAN Chairman Salihu Sulaiman, these critics do not have Tinubu’s best interests at heart, and their actions are part of a larger scheme to derail his reelection bid in 2027.
Sulaiman revealed that the plan involves singling out nine high-performing ministers and cabinet officials who are deemed crucial to Tinubu’s electoral success in future elections. The aim is to weaken the rapport between Tinubu and his officials, thereby reducing his chances of securing a second term in 2023.
The targeted officials include prominent figures such as the former governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Nyesom Wike, Minister of Internal Affairs Hon Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Minister of Budget and former Governor of Kebbi State Abubakar Bagudu, State Minister of Defence and former Governor of Zamfara State Bello Matawalle, Minister of Arts and Culture Hannatu Musawa, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajamiala, Director-General of Department of State Services (DSS) Yusuf Bicci, and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, among others.
The NAN alleges that these individuals are being targeted with attacks and disrespect in a deliberate attempt to undermine their influence and effectiveness in supporting President Tinubu’s reelection bid.
Sulaiman emphasized the troubling nature of this revelation, citing the achievements of these officials in their respective roles as potential threats to opposition efforts to undermine Tinubu’s reelection prospects.
The NAN stressed the importance of upholding democratic principles, accountability, and the rule of law. It urged President Tinubu and his administration to remain vigilant against the manipulative tactics of power-hungry politicians and to continue working collaboratively with these high-performing officials.
President Tinubu was advised to stay discerning and avoid falling into traps that could jeopardize his administration’s success. By maintaining strong relationships with key players in his government, Tinubu can ensure the continuity of his administration’s achievements and the realization of his vision for a prosperous Nigeria.
