Renowned Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has taken issue with Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni, expressing his disapproval of Oseni’s recent conduct towards guests on the show.

On Monday, tensions flared between Rufai Oseni and Jesutega Onokpasa, a prominent figure within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), during a program on the TV station. Oseni, who was conducting an interview with Onokpasa, expressed disagreements with the guest’s opinions on matters like President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidies and the overall economic situation in Nigeria.

The altercation between the two individuals elicited responses from Nigerians, particularly supporters of the current administration, who accused Oseni of exhibiting bias in his approach.

In response to this incident, Yul Edochie posted a video on his Instagram account, where he admonished Oseni to show some restraint, characterizing him as an individual lacking respect for others.

Edochie further pointed out Oseni’s previous incident of driving in a BRT lane in Lagos and questioned his moral standing to engage in discussions with individuals of integrity. Edochie asserted, “You have no right, you don’t have any moral justification to talk where people with integrity are talking! You are talking nonsense on national TV, you are a very disrespectful person, you have no respect for the laws of this country!”

Edochie continued by emphasizing that individuals like Oseni, with a similar attitude, should not aspire to hold positions of leadership, given their perceived lack of accountability.

He also criticized Oseni’s journalistic competence, arguing that the first lesson one should learn in journalism is to show respect for their guests.

“You are not better than anybody out there. You are a very disrespectful person, and you should go and learn journalism. You are insulting people on national TV,” Edochie added.

He concluded his critique by challenging Oseni’s self-importance, asserting that Oseni’s behavior appeared to position him as the most concerned citizen in the country, but that he is not superior to any other Nigerian. Edochie urged Oseni to refrain from speaking condescendingly to guests on television, as it was beneath the standards of respect expected in such discussions.
