The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the South West region has refuted allegations that the adoption of its new logo did not adhere to proper procedures.
Responding to claims made by party members Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan and publicity secretary Kilamiwaye Badmus, NNPP asserted that their statements were either based on misinformation or an intentional effort to sow discord within the party.
Olopoeyan and Badmus had accused NNPP national leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of unilateral decision-making, alleging a lack of consultation with stakeholders before implementing the new logo.
However, following an emergency meeting organized by South West Zonal chairman Prince Ademola Ayoade in Ibadan, Oyo State, NNPP countered these claims, emphasizing that the logo change underwent thorough deliberation by the National Working Committee (NWC), approval by the National Executive Committee (NEC), and ratification by the National Convention as part of the party’s constitutional amendment process.
A statement issued by Ayoade after the meeting clarified that the logo change was deemed necessary and followed due democratic processes outlined in NNPP’s constitution. Ayoade denounced the claims as false, malicious, and aimed at discrediting the national leadership, suggesting that political opponents were behind the attempt to cause internal strife.
Addressing the legality of the recent NNPP convention, Ayoade affirmed that it adhered to democratic norms and dismissed assertions to the contrary, noting that court cases challenging the convention’s validity lacked merit and were dismissed.
Ayoade attributed Olopoeyan’s claims to ulterior motives, suggesting that he was acting in accordance with the agenda of his sponsors. The South West stakeholders and leaders reaffirmed NNPP’s commitment to rebuilding and advancing democratic principles, pledging to focus on addressing the basic needs of Nigerians through policies promoting education, health, security, food sufficiency, and infrastructure development.
They urged NNPP members nationwide to renew their dedication to the party’s mission of advocating for the welfare of the people and promoting pro-people initiatives to enhance livelihoods and national development.
