Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed the arrest of Ann Izuegbu Anthonet, a close friend of his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, amid growing public debate over its legality and circumstances.
On January 14, Daniels took to social media to challenge the arrest, citing allegations against her friend including theft and drug-related claims.
In response, Nwoko’s communication team dismissed Daniels’ statements as “false, reckless, and deliberately intended to distort the facts.” According to the team, Ann was arrested for publicly alleging that Nwoko physically assaulted his wife, Laila Nwoko, causing a miscarriage — claims they described as entirely untrue.

The statement further alleged that Ann had been involved in procuring an illegal abortion for Daniels during her marriage to Nwoko, allegedly causing her to ingest substances that resulted in weeks of bleeding and the loss of Nwoko’s unborn child.
Nwoko’s team also accused Ann of handling and distributing illegal substances, citing a formal witness statement submitted to the Maitama Police Station in October 2025. They clarified that the arrest stemmed from a social media post considered threatening and defamatory toward the Nwoko family, and that law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the matter.
“This is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement issue grounded in evidence, witness testimonies, and due process,” the statement read.

Daniels recently confirmed that warrants had been issued for her and family members over allegations of stealing $40,000 from Nwoko’s residence. The couple’s private conflict became public in October following Daniels’ viral video alleging domestic violence.
Nwoko has maintained that Daniels struggled with drug and alcohol use, while Daniels acknowledged past drug use but accused Nwoko of manipulating her as a means of control. The Nwoko family has urged the public to rely on verified facts and allow law enforcement to manage the case.
