Following the mysterious death of former signee Promise ‘Mohbad’ Aloba, Naira Marley, the street pop artist born Azeez Fashola, has witnessed a decline in his Instagram followers.
On the day of Mohbad’s passing, Naira Marley had 7.5 million Instagram followers. However, the number began to dwindle after videos surfaced documenting the harassment and mistreatment suffered by the deceased, allegedly at the hands of Naira Marley and his associates, including Sammy Larry.

As of Tuesday night, more than 500,000 individuals had unfollowed the ‘Issa Goal’ crooner, reducing his followers to six million. This decline seemed to be a coordinated response from upset netizens.
Although there is no direct evidence linking Naira Marley to Mohbad’s death, clips circulating on social media since the tragic incident have fueled anger among grieving music fans, many of whom are calling for an investigation.
Officially, the police launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death on Monday. The deceased’s father, family members, and witnesses met with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to initiate the investigation.
Additionally, dedicated fans of the artist have organized a peaceful procession in his honor, scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th, and Thursday, September 21st.
