The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has initiated a thorough investigation into allegations of bribery within the Nigerian Correctional Service following a controversial voice note involving social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan. In the voice note, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, claimed that arrangements were made for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than in prison, allegedly facilitated by his godfather and the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

In response to the unfolding situation, Tunji-Ojo condemned the alleged misconduct and stated that any form of indiscipline would not be tolerated under his leadership. He has established a special investigative team led by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, to examine the allegations and ensure accountability.

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has also denied any involvement with Bobrisky and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VeryDarkMan to retract his statements linking Falana to Bobrisky’s case. Falana’s legal team has demanded an apology and warned of potential legal action if the statements are not retracted.

The investigation comes as calls for accountability and transparency within the correctional system grow, highlighting the need for integrity in public service. The Minister reassured the public that the investigation would be rigorous and impartial, with consequences for those found guilty of misconduct.
