Renowned Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has delivered a plea to members of the National Assembly, urging them to prioritize the repair of Nigerian roads over acquiring new vehicles.

In recent times, the procurement of 2023 model Toyota Prado vehicles for 469 members of the Assembly has sparked criticism from various quarters in Nigeria. The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Services, Sunday Karimi, defended the vehicle purchases by citing the poor condition of Nigerian roads.

Taking to his Snapchat page, Mayorkun expressed his concern and issued a straightforward message to the lawmakers: “Roads are in terrible condition, and yet you’re acquiring new SUVs. Fix the roads!”

He further emphasized the deplorable state of certain key roads in Nigeria, stating, “Lekki Epe Express is Terrible! Appalling conditions! There’s nothing like ‘I can drive’ in this country. I know the roads’ is a better compliment.”

Mayorkun’s message underscores the call for the government to prioritize essential infrastructure, such as road repairs, to enhance the daily lives and safety of Nigerians.
