In a strategic move to expedite ongoing construction endeavors, the Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of specific road segments.

The targeted areas include the entrance to CMD Road and the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway.

Abdulahfiz Toriola, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, conveyed this decision through a statement on Tuesday.

Toriola outlined the details of the closures, indicating that the CMD entrance will be inaccessible for three days starting from Wednesday, August 9. This temporary closure is to facilitate the crucial process of laying the final wearing course.

Moreover, Toriola specified that the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway, adjacent to the pedestrian bridge at Berger bus stop, will be closed for a duration of three days commencing Thursday, August 10. This closure is intended to prepare for the reconstruction of the remaining half of the outer lane of the carriageway.

Toriola emphasized that preparatory work will commence on Wednesday, August 9, in order to enable the successful reconstruction of the outer lane.

Addressing traffic management during this period, Toriola introduced an alternative plan to ensure minimal disruption. He stated, “The following traffic management plan has been earmarked for the duration of the construction works. From Thursday, 10th August, 2023, all traffic from the expressway en-route CMD Road will have these alternative routes.”

Motorists departing from Ojota Interchange will access CMD Road through the access road after the FMW weighbridge. For those on Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Road, they can link to CMD Road through Otedola Estate.

Motorists bound for Isheri-Olowora, aiming to exit the expressway via the access before the Pedestrian Bridge at Berger bus stop, will utilize the next exit by New Garage to connect to Isheri-Olowora.

Toriola appealed to motorists to cooperate with the deployed traffic management personnel, who will guide them through the alternative routes and ensure a smooth transition to their desired destinations.
