Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez stirs conversation on X (formerly Twitter) after calling out subpar rappers with a viral punchline.

Nigerian rapper and songwriter Blaqbonez has once again stirred the waters of the hip-hop community with a sharp, unapologetic tweet that’s now making waves across social media.

In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Blaqbonez wrote:

“If a rapper can’t rap, he’s a Flo Rid

The statement, which appears to take a jab at commercial artists with little lyrical depth, has since gone viral, amassing thousands of likes, reposts, and fiery debates in the comments section.

Known for his witty lyricism and fearless commentary, Blaqbonez didn’t stop at the tweet. He followed up by turning the controversial line into a written piece on his platform, offering what he described as “a hard table-shaking bar turned into writing.”

The reference to American rapper Flo Rida who has achieved global fame for his party anthems and radio-friendly hits rather than traditional rap skills has been interpreted by many as a critique of artists who prioritize mainstream appeal over lyrical craftsmanship.

While some fans applauded Blaqbonez for keeping the essence of rap alive and holding the genre to a higher standard, others called the tweet unnecessary and disrespectful.

“This is what hip-hop is about. Call it out. Raise the bar,” one user commented. Another countered: “Flo Rida has hits and plaques. What do you have?”

So far, Flo Rida has not responded.

Blaqbonez, who has built a reputation for balancing humor with hard truths in his music and online presence, seems unfazed by the reactions. In fact, he appears to thrive in controversy, often using it as fuel for creative expression.

Whether fans see it as a diss or a wake-up call, one thing is certain: Blaqbonez is keeping the conversation and the culture alive.
