One of the most pressing issues for African businesses is their often-short lifespan, which is closely linked to the life of their founders. The death of a founder not only threatens the survival of the business but also extinguishes the innovative ideas that were crucial to its development and success. This problem is compounded by a lack of documentation and shared experiences, creating a significant knowledge gap. As a result, younger entrepreneurs in Nigeria struggle to learn from the successes of their predecessors, a situation made worse by the reluctance of many seasoned business leaders to share their insights.

To address this challenge, GlobalMentorBridge, a global mentorship platform aimed at bridging generational, sectoral, and geographical gaps through mentoring and networking, is hosting a special summit in Lagos on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The summit, themed “Beyond Ideas,” will gather business leaders, entrepreneurs, and startups from various sectors for a day of idea exchange, knowledge sharing, and networking.
The event will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Ifeoma Malo, CEO and Co-founder of Clean Technology Hub, who will discuss “Building Clean Technology Hub – Attracting and Nurturing Top Talents into Global Leaders.” Don Ebubeogu, CEO/MD of Tiger Foods, will present “The Case of Tiger Foods – The Power of Mentorship to Drive Collaboration, Innovation, and Strong Business Leadership,” while Abimbola Adebakin, Founder and CEO of Advantage Health Africa, will speak on “Leading Advantage Health Africa.”

Other notable speakers include Babatunde Akin-Moses, Co-founder and CEO of Sycamore NG, who will explore the role of mentoring across various sectors; Dr. Clement Obadimu, CEO and Principal Partner at Mentor Tower, discussing “The Place of Mentoring and Reverse Mentoring in Organizational, Professional, and Personal Growth”; and Mrs. Modupe Ehirim, CEO and Principal Partner at MOE Advisory Ltd, addressing “The Importance of Mentoring for a Healthy Family Life and Its Overall Impact.”
Additionally, Shehu Zubairu, Senior Partner at Human Capital Partners, will cover “Being a Pace Setter – Organizational and Personal Growth,” Mayowa Adeosun, Co-founder and COO of Sycamore NG, will talk about “Decision Making, Managing Change – Moving from England to Nigeria and Co-founding Sycamore,” Dr. Tochukwu MacFoy, Founder of Energize Africa, will provide insights on “Staying Ahead of Industry-Specific Knowledge, Emerging Technologies, and Global Best Practices,” and Regis Ohia, CEO of Varosi Real Estate Group, will discuss “Gaining Competitive Advantage in the Real Estate Industry.”
The summit has attracted partnerships with various Nigerian businesses, startups, and international organizations, including Al-Hussein Technical University in Amman, Jordan. This follows GlobalMentorBridge’s recent summit in Jordan, which featured keynote speeches from notable leaders such as Dr. Ismail Hinti, President of the University, and reached around 1.1 million people through both in-person and online channels.
