Nigerian actor Fred Ebere, known as Ten Kobo, has expressed his disapproval of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for banning Adanma Luke from producing movies in the aftermath of the tragic death of Junior Pope and four other crew members during a movie shoot.
In a roadside interview shared on his Facebook page, Ebere placed blame on multiple parties for the unfortunate incident that occurred at Anam River in Anambra state. He specifically called out Adanma Luke, the producer of the ill-fated movie, for allegedly neglecting to provide life jackets for her crew members, including Junior Pope.
Ebere emphasized that Junior Pope, being a respected figure in the industry, would likely have insisted on safety measures such as wearing life jackets before embarking on the water. He also criticized TC Okafor for performing certain rituals on the river, suggesting that these actions might have contributed to the tragedy.
Furthermore, Ebere argued against AGN’s decision to solely blame Luke for the incident, asserting that everyone involved shares a degree of responsibility. He urged for a more nuanced approach to addressing the situation.
The actor’s comments have sparked mixed reactions from viewers, with some agreeing with his perspective and others offering alternative interpretations of the events leading up to the tragedy.
As discussions surrounding the incident continue, questions remain about the broader implications for safety measures in Nigeria’s film industry and the need for accountability among all stakeholders involved in movie productions.
