The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed back Senator Magnus Abe, the former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general election, to its ranks.
In a statement released in Port Harcourt by Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the APC, Abe’s return was hailed as a significant development. Okocha described Abe, a former Senator representing Rivers South-East District, as a “valued asset” to the party.
Highlighting Abe’s extensive political journey, Okocha emphasized his role as a co-founder of the APC in Rivers State and his notable contributions, including serving as Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Commissioner for Information, and Secretary to the State Government.
Responding to critics, Okocha asserted Abe’s autonomy and maturity in making his decisions, emphasizing his longstanding presence and influence in Rivers State politics. He recounted Abe’s tenure in various capacities, lauding his intellect, capacity, and achievements.
Okocha concluded by underlining Abe’s significant impact on Rivers State politics, acknowledging his widespread recognition and contributions, even from detractors.
