Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to play an active role in policymaking and communicate the feedback from Nigerians to party leadership, emphasizing that the responsibility lies with figures like Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and not just what is heard within the confines of the villa.

Fayemi made these remarks at the public presentation of the book “APC and Transition Politics,” authored by Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the party, in Abuja on Tuesday. He praised Lukman as the conscience of the APC, urging leaders to use the message in the book for the rebuilding process of the party.

The former Nigerian Governors Forum chairman insisted that the APC should not be mere spectators in policymaking but actively project the party’s manifesto for effective implementation. Fayemi underscored the importance of the party leadership conveying feedback from communities and constituencies to President Bola Tinubu.

Meanwhile, former APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole urged Lukman to pursue internal resolution of party issues before going public with criticisms. Oshiomhole acknowledged the author’s criticism but faulted the failure to recognize his contributions to the party, including significant financial support during the 2019 general elections.

Lukman, the author, highlighted that the purpose of the book was to stimulate discussion within the party and encouraged leaders to own and integrate it into party structures for the betterment of APC’s future. The event featured discussions about the need for progressive politics to improve the lives of citizens and the party’s commitment to addressing challenges faced by future generations.
