Renowned Nigerian singer, Davido, has shared an intriguing revelation about his early career, disclosing that he secured a lucrative multimillion-naira endorsement deal at the tender age of 17.

During a recent interview, Davido reminisced about the time when a prominent telecom company offered him an endorsement deal worth a staggering N20 million, despite having only two songs to his name.

The ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ sensation expressed his amazement at the opportunity that arose. He stated, “I remember when MTN, a leading telecommunication company, approached me for an endorsement deal. My dad asked how much they were offering, and I confidently responded with 20 million. At that time, I was just 17 years old, and no one had ever seen such a massive sum of money.”

Davido continued, “It was incredible to realize that this substantial amount of money was coming from my music, and it was based on just two songs. I said to my dad, ‘Look, Daddy, we can do this.'”

Recognizing the potential in his son’s talent, Davido’s father supported his aspirations. He provided him with a studio and financial resources to pursue his music career. Davido’s debut album was a resounding success, further solidifying his position in the music industry.

This revelation highlights the early triumphs and meteoric rise of Davido, showcasing the immense potential and opportunities that can arise for young artists in the Nigerian music scene.

In addition to his remarkable endorsement deal success story, it’s worth noting that Davido’s latest single, “Unavailable,” has recently made an impressive entry into the top 100 on the India iTunes chart. This achievement further illustrates the global appeal and growing influence of Davido’s music beyond Nigerian borders.
