A group identified as Concerned Stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a call to President Bola Tinubu and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC, urging them to ensure the North Central Zone reclaims the national chairman position, which became vacant following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

During a press conference held yesterday and led by former APC national chairmanship aspirant, Mohammed Saidu Etsu, the group advocated for the retention of the party chairman seat within the North Central Zone, where it was previously micro-zoned in the North.

Emphasizing the significance of the North Central’s support for the President during the last general election, the group highlighted the substantial votes garnered by President Buhari in the zone and urged the party to consider these merits in the selection process.

The call from the group comes amidst internal challenges faced by the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who is reportedly facing suspension plans within his ward in Kano State, situated in the North West geo-political zone.

Speaking at the conference, Etsu stressed the need for strategic decision-making within the APC, emphasizing fairness, equity, and adherence to the party’s constitution. He urged support for the North Central’s aspiration to lead the party, citing the region’s abundance of competent individuals capable of steering the party forward.

Additionally, the group called on leaders and stakeholders across all zones to rally behind the North Central’s bid for the national chairman position, envisioning a strengthened and united APC that can consolidate its position across Nigeria.

Furthermore, the group appealed to individuals with a conscience to uphold the integrity of the party by honoring the High Court of Kano State’s order restraining Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from presiding over APC affairs pending legal proceedings.

In essence, the Concerned Stakeholders underscored the importance of fairness, unity, and adherence to legal directives in ensuring the APC’s stability and continued progress.
