Nigeria’s afrobeats superstar, Burna Boy, has added more accolades to his name after winning big at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. The singer, who was nominated in three categories, took home two awards at the event held in Las Vegas.

Burna Boy won the award for Top R&B Album for his Grammy-winning album “Twice As Tall,” beating out competition from the likes of Chris Brown and Justin Bieber. He also won the award for Top World Album for the same project, which has been widely hailed as a masterpiece of afrobeats music.

In his acceptance speech, Burna Boy thanked his fans, family, and collaborators for their support and expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He also dedicated the awards to Nigeria, saying, “This is for my people, for my country, for Africa. We are here, and we are not going anywhere.”

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards also saw other Nigerian artists, such as Wizkid and Davido, being nominated for awards. Wizkid was nominated in the Top Dance/Electronic Song category for his collaboration with Justin Bieber on the hit song “Essence,” while Davido was nominated in the Top R&B Song category for his song “FEM.”

The recognition of Nigerian artists at international music awards is a testament to the growing influence of afrobeats music around the world. It is also a source of pride for Nigerians who continue to celebrate their culture and talent on the global stage.

Burna Boy’s latest wins at the Billboard Music Awards come just weeks after he was named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2023. With his talent and success, he has become a true ambassador for Nigerian music and culture.
