Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, widely known as Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija season 7, has shared her childhood experiences, revealing that she often had to plead for parental affection while growing up.

This revelation comes in the wake of her father, Felix Otabor, accusing her of abandoning him after winning the N100 million BBNaija prize in 2022 during a viral interview.

“He said, ‘She disappeared into thin air as soon as the prize money was handed over to her, and she never returned home to butter our bread,'” Phyna’s father had stated.

Feeling emotionally impacted by the viral report, Phyna took to her Snapchat story on Saturday night to reflect on her past and how her parents’ treatment had affected her. She disclosed that throughout her upbringing, she frequently heard that she was not truly her parents’ child, yet she continued to seek their love.

“Growing up, I always heard, ‘You are not my daughter.’ Nevertheless, I would beg for parental love. The truth is, I have always begged people to love me. Today, I have finally accepted it. No wonder, I might as well say I’m an orphan,” Phyna candidly expressed.
