Governor Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with individuals across party lines during a reception for Hon. Moses Essien, the representative of Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, who returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Young Progressives Party (YPP). The event, held in Ikot Ekpene, highlighted the governor’s dedication to fostering unity and inclusivity in governance.
Governor Umo Eno commended Essien’s dedication to the state’s welfare and governance, emphasizing that his return to the PDP signifies a mere change in party affiliation. He assured Essien of complete reintegration into the party and urged PDP leadership to facilitate his seamless transition.
Acknowledging PDP’s status as a political family in Akwa Ibom, Governor Umo Eno emphasized the party’s enduring strength despite external developments. He welcomed Essien back to the fold, emphasizing that his return strengthens the party.
Essien expressed gratitude to the governor and the PDP for the warm reception, citing his belief in the governor’s ARISE Agenda and commitment to inclusive governance as factors influencing his return. He pledged his support to Governor Umo Eno’s administration to ensure the successful implementation of its development plans for the state.
The speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Udeme Otong, lauded the governor’s inclusive leadership, which has fostered unity in the assembly. He highlighted Essien’s return as a positive development, signaling increased unity within the House.
State party chairman Elder Aniekan Akpan hailed Essien’s return as a victory for the PDP, affirming the party’s readiness to integrate him and strengthen its presence in Akwa Ibom State. He emphasized the significance of Essien’s return as an elected legislator, underscoring the party’s embrace of its returning member.
