Dr. Udoh Oberaifo, the gubernatorial candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the upcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State, asserts that his party represents the only viable alternative capable of rescuing the state from its political, social, and economic challenges.

During the unveiling of his deputy, Lord Osunde, in Benin City yesterday, Oberaifo emphasized that Edo State had endured the administrations of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) without witnessing significant progress. Osunde, a former leader of the Edo Obidient Movement in the state, brings extensive grassroots experience to the party.

“The poverty rate, decayed infrastructure, and insecurity in the state, which the APC and PDP have failed to address, have driven Edo people to seek an alternative,” Oberaifo stated. He highlighted Osunde’s decision to join the AAC as a testament to the growing demand for change among the populace.

Speaking about his agenda for the state, Oberaifo emphasized a commitment to “humanity first,” prioritizing the welfare of the people over political interests and godfatherism. He underscored the importance of governance guided by true leadership, innovation, and a people-centric approach.

“My government, if elected, will focus on creating an enabling environment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to thrive,” Oberaifo affirmed, outlining his vision for economic development and empowerment in Edo State.
