Renowned Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has addressed her fans’ concerns regarding the removal of the title “Guinness World Record holder” from her social media bio.
Although she was dethroned by Irish chef Alan Fisher for the “longest cooking marathon (individual)” record, Baci firmly believes she still holds the spirit of a record-breaking chef.
In a heartfelt message shared on her social media platform, Baci clarified that her bio update was a gesture of respect towards her successor, similar to what her predecessor, Chef Lata, had done when she was surpassed.
Baci expressed, “Just as Chef Lata gracefully acknowledged the new record holder by updating her bio and refining the wording, I’ve made similar adjustments. Achieving such a record is a monumental accomplishment, and I understand this firsthand. I have immense respect for the tremendous effort it took for Alan to attain these heights. True sportsmanship involves recognizing progress, whether the accolade is in my bio or not. In spirit and history, I remain a record holder. Let’s celebrate achievement and the spirit of healthy competition.”
While the official title may have changed hands, Baci’s legacy as a remarkable record-breaking chef endures in the annals of Nigerian culinary history.
